  • "hands-on" experience as a research scientist
  • advanced degrees in both technology and business
  • R&D project management expert
  • COO of three firms (2 small, 1 large
  • CEO of one firm (a startup R&D firm))
  • experience in tech startups, small firms, Fortune 500s & non-profit orgs
  • proposal expert (active member Association for Proposal Mgmt. Professionals)
  • more than 35 years in Government R&D project marketing
  • inventor of the SBIR-ToolKitTM
  • instructor for more than 15 SBIR/STTR workshops every year
  • more than 14 years professional experience in SBIR/STTR/ATP
  • more than 2000 SBIR firms supported.
This set of skills affords an experienced second-opinion, and leadership when needed, to appropriately design, cost estimate and articulate "manageable" research projects, plan and articulate Phase III commercialization activities, understand while guiding/instilling application attributes that will evoke positive responses in SBIR/STTR reviewers.

NOTE: The SBIR-LabTM experience actually spans 3 to 5 weeks (see below), not just the three very intense writing days.  Thus, applicants must register and begin the process well in advance of the application submission date.

SBIR-LabSM events:
  • begin with a private strategic planning & research design meeting 3 - 5 weeks before main event
  • employ all the tools/techniques of our proven SBIR LeaderSM service
  • are typically held at out-of-the-way locations (away from your's and our offices)
  • provide private offices, Internet connections and office furnishings to support the task at hand
  • conducted to preserve privacy with provisions to protect your proprietary information
  • will be orchestrated by on-site experienced proposal management professionals
  • are focused around an SBIR-ToolKitSM customized for your particular project
  • provide intense, hands-on development sessions (detailed instruction followed by mentored writing)
  • build applications in three 12-hour days (9 sessions)
  • designed to produce completely finished, ready-to-review applications.
Once the semi-final Lab drafts are completed, they are subjected to our highly effective Deluxe SBIR-ReviewSM service with the results delivered to the client within three (3) working days after the Lab.

Computers, high-speed Internet access, telephones and fax equipment will be supplied to support collaborative proposal builds and proposal data research. We initially hold a strategy & research design session by telephone and Internet with client about a month to six-weeks before the Lab event. From that meeting, we define client's homework assignments well in advance -- clients bring data from completed assignments to the Lab. Alternatively we do offer SBIR-BidDataSM professional data research services, of the World's most imprortant databases (at extra cost and this must be contracted for at least one week advance of arrival at the Lab).

The Lab facilities will support the private development of proprietary applications eventhough the other firms will sit in on the primary instruction sessions (you may bring your own hard drive (we will install it) or we will supply security memory erasure software to use before you leave ours behind. As needed, non-disclosure agreements will be signed -- make arrangements for this with our first meeting.

Although not a prerequisite, it would be very helpful if Lab participants have attended a How To Win SBIR FinancingSM workshop prior to attending an SBIR-LabSM.

The fee for the Lab will be $3950 per firm/application.  A non-refundable $1800 down payment (facility fee) is required to hold a space when registering. The remainder of the fee ($2150) is to be paid at/before the event (or arrangemets for credit made) and is subject to our satisfaction guarantee.  Travel and living expenses are not included in fee.
